In Daily Life readers can savor what Americans thought about life in their “Asian Possession”. In the first post one “Stanley P Johnson” writes on the topic of “Why Life is Worthwhile in Manila” (1920). Key sectors at that time were Government, Army and Navy, Businessmen and Religious Orders. Each had different missions and life styles. Johnson writes from the businessmans perspective. He sums up life as “never hurried, never tired, and never worried” in “the lotus land, the manna land , the land of pleasant tomorrows.”
